[Do not be greedy and cheap] roadside stalls plush toys formaldehyde excessive Buy back first wash

Fast-reading plush toys are children's “buddies”, and some children even keep eating and sleeping. However, as children's direct contact products, some "problem" toys cause children's skin allergies, itching and respiratory diseases and other occasions. On April 14, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) informed that five toy companies in three provinces and cities in Beijing recalled six batches of defective children's toy products, including plush toys.

Recently, reporters purchased 8 kinds of plush toy samples from shopping malls, toy boutiques, markets, and roadside stalls. The test results showed that 8 samples contained a small amount of heavy metals, and 2 samples contained formaldehyde, which exceeded the formaldehyde content of textile materials. The relevant standards for content. Both samples were purchased from street vendors.

At present, formaldehyde has been defined by the World Health Organization as a carcinogen. According to industry experts, during the wearing or use of textiles with excessive formaldehyde content, some of the free formaldehyde will be released, causing damage to human health.

In addition, during the purchase of the sample, the reporter found that most of the plush toys sold by the mall and Dachao have regular brands and are marked with ingredients and manufacturer information. However, some street toy stores, street stalls, and plush toys have mostly no trademark and composition information, and there is no national 3C (national basic safety certification) logo.

"This plush doll is an imitation version. It's really a few hundred in the mall. I only sell 30 of them." On the side of the road next to the village of Chaoyang Nongguangli, a street vendor selling soft toys said. In addition to the four English letters on the toy's label, there is no other information. Asked the manufacturer and the toy material, the stall owner said he did not understand.

Experts remind parents that when they purchase toys, they must look for toys that have safety certification marks or other certification marks, eliminate three products, and do not plan to be cheap.

experiment

Experiment Site: Beijing Fashion Institute Cooperative Laboratory

Experimental samples: 8 children's plush toys purchased from shopping malls, toy boutiques, online shops, street stalls, prices ranging from 5 yuan to 50 yuan

Experiment 1: A formaldehyde sample exceeding 1.5 times the standard

experiment procedure:

1. Sampling: Cut a small piece of textile material from each sample and weigh 1 gram as sample. Separately place the measuring flasks and add 100 g of distilled water.

2. Extraction: Each point flask was placed in an ultrasonic instrument for 1 hour to extract the component solution.

3. Filtration: Pipette the appropriate amount of solution with a syringe filter, and place the filtered solution in a beaker. Add the derivatizing agent and inject half an hour later.

4. Detection: Take 10 microliters of solution from the beaker with a micro sample injector and inject it into the high performance liquid chromatograph. The chromatograph detects the presence of formaldehyde by analyzing the composition of the solution and the affinity of acetonitrile.

Experimental results: Formaldehyde was detected in two samples, one of which was 50 mg/kg and the other 35 mg/kg. Upon verification, both samples were purchased from roadside stalls.

Experimental analysis: Zhang Yanfen, secretary-general of the National Toys Standardization Technical Committee, introduced that the standard for reference in toy safety does not stipulate the formaldehyde content standard separately. The relevant departments use the formaldehyde standard of textile materials as a reference, in which the content of formaldehyde in infants and children's direct skin contact textile materials should not exceed 20 mg/kg. According to this standard, the formaldehyde content of these two samples in this experiment was significantly higher. At the same time, Zhang Yanfen said that in the future may promote the establishment of standard formaldehyde content in toys.

Experiment 2: Samples were measured in small amounts of mercury and chromium

Experimental procedure: The heavy metal detector was used to inspect the plush textile surface of 8 samples, and the metal components and contents detected were observed.

Experimental results: Heavy metals were detected in all 8 samples, including cerium, mercury, chromium, lead, etc., and their contents were mostly between 0.001 mg/kg and 1 mg/kg.

Experimental analysis: According to the mandatory national standard GB24613-2009 "Restrictions on the Harmful Substances in Toy Coatings", the substances classified as harmful mainly include the lead content, and soluble elements such as antimony, arsenic, antimony, cadmium, chromium, mercury, and selenium. Among them, in addition to modeling clay and finger paint pigments in other toy materials, it is required that yttrium content ≤ 60mg/kg, lead content ≤ 90mg/kg, mercury content ≤ 60mg/kg, chromium content ≤ 60mg/kg and so on. According to national standards, the heavy metal content of the 8 samples tested did not exceed the standard.

Follow up

1 toy formaldehyde comes from "auxiliary"

Formaldehyde in plush toys comes mainly from textiles on the surface of toys. An expert from the Fiber Inspection Institute of the Beijing Bureau of Quality Supervision introduced that the formaldehyde in textiles is generally not subjectively added. Instead, the factory adds additives such as softeners, color fixing agents, water repellents, and adhesives to the textiles. Contains formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is widely used in pure-spinning or blended products, and has the functions of shrink-proof and ironing-free. At the same time, these additives also contain harmful substances such as heavy metals.

According to the expert, if fabrics are not used, the fabrics of textiles are not effective and the cost is very high.

Because formaldehyde is volatile and soluble in water, experts recommend that newly purchased plush toys are best cleaned and air dried, which can significantly reduce formaldehyde content. In addition, formaldehyde has a pungent odor that can be heard by parents when they buy toys. If there is a pungent odor that is just like interior decoration, you should avoid buying it.

2. Formaldehyde is highly sensitizing and can cause cancer

With regard to the possible effects of formaldehyde on the body, Yang Shuxia, deputy chief physician of Dermatology at the First Hospital of Peking University, introduced that if the formaldehyde content of the toy is too high, it will have some impact on the respiratory tract, such as coughing, coughing, and tears, it may also be Allergies such as allergic rhinitis occur. Chronic long-term exposure to formaldehyde-containing plush toys may cause cancer.

Yang Shuxia said that from the current point of view, this situation is not too many cases of admission. She suggested that when purchasing plush toys, products that meet the national quality standards should be selected, and they should not buy three products.
