Shandong Institute of Building Materials Industry and Yantai Building Materials Research Institute jointly developed a resin-based ultra-hybrid composite material in February 2004.
The material is called SHCM in foreign countries and is still in the initial stage in China. Because of its excellent electrical conductivity and wear resistance, it has broad prospects for development in coal, gold, power, building materials and other applications.
Researchers used metal fibers, glass fibers, and synthetic fibers to reinforce the same resin matrix and obtained composite materials with high strength, high stiffness, wear resistance, and antistatic properties. The metal fiber used was stainless steel fiber, the glass fiber was medium alkali roving, and the matrix resin was E-44 epoxy resin. According to the measured results of the resin-based ultra-hybrid composites obtained, the flexural strength, flexural modulus, impact strength, and resistivity all reached a high level.
